Balaton Marathon Transfer: A Siófok Weekend, Together

Balaton Marathon Transfer: A Siófok Weekend, Together

Save your attention for the course. Give the journey its own plan.

A Balaton Marathon transfer should fit the race you entered. The 23rd Balaton Maraton and Half Marathon takes place in Siófok on November 14–15, 2026, with single-day races and distances split across the weekend. Friends traveling together may have different start times—and different ideas about when to leave afterward.

VanBudapest.com can connect Budapest or Budapest Airport with your Siófok accommodation and arrange the return around the group. Begin with each runner’s chosen event, then add the people, bags and stops that make it a shared weekend.

01 / THE START BOARD

One weekend does not mean one start time

The organizer’s published timetable gives the following starting points for planning. Times are local. Check your own event entry and the latest instructions before confirming collection.

SAT / NOV 1410:00

Opening wave, including the one-third marathon, quarter marathon and first stages of selected marathon formats.

SAT / NOV 1412:30

Saturday half marathon and the relevant stages of multi-stage events.

SAT / NOV 1416:00

One-sixth marathon and the final Saturday stages of selected marathon formats.

SUN / NOV 1510:00

Sunday half marathon, quarter marathon and the Sunday stages of two-day events.

These are race starts, not recommended arrival times. Allow separately for bib collection, changing, your warm-up and the walk to the start area.
02 / BUDAPEST TO SIÓFOK

Give the outward journey a sensible finish line

For a Saturday-only visit, work backward from the runner who needs to be ready first. Agree a Budapest meeting point, a Siófok arrival target and the tasks that must happen before the start. A later half-marathon entry does not automatically fit the same departure as a teammate’s 10:00 race.

For both days, consider arriving on Friday and treating the hotel as the base. That separates the longer road journey from race-morning preparations. It also makes the Saturday afternoon finish easier to accommodate without adding a return to Budapest between the two days.

The organizer’s 14 km information page identifies the event address as Petőfi sétány 32 and the race center in the Hotel Hungária restaurant at Petőfi sétány 17. Use the current instructions for your own distance. Confirm a permitted vehicle meeting point separately; an event address is not a promise that a minibus can stop beside the start.

03 / ARRIVING BY AIR

Make the airport journey part of the weekend

For a Budapest Airport arrival, send the flight number, landing date and Siófok hotel address. The road transfer begins after arrival formalities, baggage collection and meeting your chauffeur. Avoid building a race-day plan around touchdown as though everyone were already in the vehicle.

If teammates arrive on different flights, decide whether they should wait and travel together or take separate transfers. Include the accompanying guests in that decision: a non-runner may arrive later or leave earlier without needing to follow the team’s entire program.

VanBudapest.com’s private Budapest–Balaton service can be quoted for the actual route and dates. Ask for the outward and return journeys together so that accommodation stops, luggage and flight commitments appear in the same proposal.

04 / PEOPLE + BAGS

Choose the vehicle around the whole team

A shared journey for the club

A minibus or Sprinter can suit a running group that wants one collection point and a shared return. Larger clubs can request a coach proposal. For a smaller party, a V-Class may be sufficient. The right choice depends on both the passenger count and what everyone brings.

Count overnight bags, suitcases, spare clothing and any bulky equipment separately. Tell us about child-seat requests or accessibility needs before a category is selected. Several runners with weekend luggage need a different assessment from the same people carrying only a small day bag.

A comfortable seat for the way home

For groups prioritizing extra personal space, ask about the Sprinter VIP category. The current fleet page shows the available vehicle categories and luggage guidance; have the configuration checked for your group rather than treating a maximum seat count as a complete packing plan.

Keep the items you will want after running easy to reach. A change of clothes and a separate bag for used kit are practical details to settle before departure. Agree whether bags stay at the hotel, travel with you or need to be collected on the return route.

05 / AFTER THE FINISH

Give everyone time to become a passenger again

A race finish is not a vehicle departure. Your group may still need to collect belongings, change, meet friends or attend a presentation. Set a realistic collection window, then agree who confirms that the party is ready. Avoid making the quickest runner’s finishing time the deadline for everyone else.

For runners finishing at different times, choose between one shared later pickup and separate journeys. If an airport departure is involved, assess it on its own: the last runner’s schedule, hotel luggage collection and the required airport arrival time all matter.

Companions may want to move independently while the race is underway. An agreed chauffeur service period can cover additional journeys in the area; list the intended stops and waiting requirement when requesting the quote. A race-day return transfer does not automatically reserve the vehicle for every movement between drop-off and collection.

The useful question is simple: where does each person need to be, and when? Once that is settled, VanBudapest.com can prepare the transport proposal around the weekend you actually plan to have.

06 / SEND ONE CLEAR BRIEF

Five details for your group quote

  1. Dates and events: each runner’s race, start day and whether the group stays overnight.
  2. Collection and destination: exact Budapest addresses or flight details, plus the Siófok hotel.
  3. Travelers and luggage: runners, companions, children, suitcase numbers and unusual items.
  4. Service pattern: separate transfers or a chauffeur available for an agreed period.
  5. Return plan: collection point, hotel stop, flight commitments and a reachable group coordinator.

Balaton Marathon travel questions

When is the 2026 Balaton Maraton and Half Marathon?

The organizer confirms November 14–15, 2026, in Siófok. Different distances and multi-stage formats have different starts; check the official timetable and your event entry.

Can our group travel directly from Budapest Airport to Siófok?

Yes, request that route with the flight details, hotel address, passenger count and luggage. The meeting arrangement, vehicle and service scope are confirmed in the individual proposal.

Can we book a minibus for the whole running club?

Send the full group and luggage details. A Sprinter, minibus or larger coach arrangement can be considered; capacity and availability must be confirmed for your dates.

Can companions use a chauffeur during the race?

You can request an agreed service period with local stops and waiting. Include this in the original brief so it can be priced and arranged separately from a simple outward and return transfer.

Does the transfer include race entry or a hotel booking?

The quote covers the agreed transport. Arrange race entry through the official event website and confirm accommodation separately unless an additional service is expressly included in your proposal.
